Over at Weblogs Inc.'s Download Squad, David Chartier is blogging about using Mac OS X Tiger's Automator actions to simplify the Photoshop image processing workflow. Automator actions can trigger tasks in Photoshop CS and CS2 from the OS X Finder, and can be strung together to create an Automator workflow. For example, David uses an Automator workflow that will resize an image, optimize it for the web, rename it, and upload it to his FTP server. This entire Automator workflow is triggered by right-clicking an image in the Finder and choosing the workflow from the menu that pops up. This is exactly what computers are supposed to do — execute repetitive tasks automatically while you kick back with a cold one.
