Does your digital camera's file-naming system give you a headache? Use Adobe Bridge to quickly rename large batches
of photos with successive file names. Command (Mac)/Control (PC)-click (or Shift-click contiguous thumbnails) in the
Bridge Preview panel to select photos to rename. Choose Tools>Batch Rename from the Bridge menu bar. In the Batch
Rename dialog box that opens, choose Copy to another folder to avoid overwriting originals, and browse to a destination
folder. Enter any static text you use in your filenames (like the event or shooting location). Include Sequence Number
as part of the new file name and set the starting number and the number of digits for the sequence number. Include the
date as part of the file name if that's how you keep track of files in your photo archiving system. Choose whether to
preserve the current filename in XMP Metadata. Preview your filenaming convention, tweaking, adding or deleting name
fields until the formula is just the way you want it. Click Rename.

1. I am still using ACDSee v2.4x to do batch file renaming. Frankly speaking, I don't wanna start and wait for a while to perform the rename job in PS. Previous versions of ACDsee is obviously tiny and handy in this respect.
