PhotoshopNews.com has a great, nostalgic image series showcasing
Photoshop's startup splash screens from
every version back to 0.07. Yes, there apparently was a version 0.07. It's very interesting to watch the evolution of
Photoshop's splash over the years, especially when you consider everything Photoshop has evolved from and into.
Now I'm not much of a fan of splash screens to begin with, but all things considered I'm really not that much of a fan
of the new splashes in CS and CS2. The feather sure is symbolic and pretty, but I find the imagery vistas of versions 7
and even 5.5 a bit more inspiring and to the point. Not like I'm that bored, (Weblogs Inc chains me to my
desk. Help!) but does anyone know of a way to photoshop Photoshop's splash screen?
Splash Screens From Then Till Now

(Page 1)2. I saw something a long time ago about changing the splash screen for cs somewhere on deviantart, but alas, I couldn't find it, but google helped me find these.
Mac: for photoshop 7, but I doubt the way to do it has changed much http://www.resexcellence.com/hack_html_02/05-01-02.shtml
this plug-in claims to do it for you: http://malletandbare.free.fr/products/csi/
windows: also for 7, but, again, I would bet it's the same for cs2 (scroll down to the post by guru_midget) http://www.photoshoptechniques.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-6709.html
I haven't tried any of these, so I don't know if they really work or not. Changing the splash screen porbably violates Adobe's ELUA, and we would never do that, would we?

3. Wonderful creative concept in Advertising Age...maybe the 80s, or 90s an ad ran with the headline:
What would you like Photoshop to do?
I kept a tear sheet mounted on black board beside my Mac, but have moved twice and lost it. Can you help me show this ad to my wintel friend? She has sent an email of yuck windows using this concept.... with slightly different copy.
thank you

1. I figured it would be pretty easy to do on Mac OS X but I can't seem to find it for Photoshop CS. Illustrator CS just has a PNG image hidden in the application bundle but Photoshop doesn't appear to use this technique. It may be hidden within another bundle inside of the primary application bundle or it may still be located in the resource fork or something. Resexcellence.com may have more information about it but I don't have time to look right now.
