For those who haven't heard, an enterprising hacker was successful in getting Windows XP to run on the new
Intel-based Macs. Aside from some minor driver hiccups here and there, it sounds like instructions and installers are
cropping up all over the web.
Since Apple's new
PowerBooks MacBook Pros are finally running
virtually the same hardware under the hood as the rest of the PC notebook industry, some websites like
GearLog and
PC Magazine are running tests on the
new machines to find out that they run Windows and Photoshop faster than any of the competing Core Duo laptops out
there. How ironic. To check out the actual numbers, first head over to
GearLog's tests, then check out the numbers
from
PC Magazine.
Strange
times we live in, when Apple's hardware runs Windows faster than the competition.

1. As someone with a MBP running XP, I can CONFIRM THIS. Even though there are still driver issues, I can't believe how lightening fast this thing is running XP. I actually tried 3 other Windows laptops before making the switch to the MPB, and all I can say is there is no comparison.
